The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Genesis 2: 15
In simple humility, let our gardener God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life. James 1: ~21
ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you... Job 12: 8a
The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58: 11 (NIV)
One of the most beautiful verses in the Bible is God's Invitation to Abundant Life in Isaiah 55 which closes with a living memorial. Plant a cypress and a myrtle in your garden or simply remember God's invitation and promise of productive, fruitful functioning for all creation, every time you see one of these plants. Some scholars believe this verse is a lifting of the curse in Genesis 3: 18. Reconciliation and healing - of the most difficult kinds, such as personal transformation, physical sickness, mental disorders, economic justice, and psycho-social ailments - can become true in your own life, today. Pray for and believe in God's healing. Here is the verse:
Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;
instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;
and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial,
for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
Isaiah 55: 13
Here's another garden reference from Isaiah 61, another promise and living memorial. Remember it whenever you see the mighty oak and when you see or do new plantings! Think about it: You and I are a display of His glory.
They will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display his glory!
