Aglow and Burning!

Who wouldn't want flawless glowing skin? Well, Romans 12: 11 provides us with some tips for glowing spiritually! The NRSV crisply notes: Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. The Amplified Bible puts it in this way: Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord. It was an extremely busy week but looking back I can see how ardent - eager, spirited, passionate, enthusiastic intense - were some of the people I was privileged to hang out with this week. Ardent is an old-fashioned word and one we don't hear often but aglow and burning (presumably with pleasure and pain) are probably two synonyms that describe it best, coming as it does from the Latin verb ardere, to burn.

Ardent is also the adjective that comes to mind when I listen to Rend Collective Experiment's album Homemade Worship for Handmade People and as we plan the Los Ranchos Presbytery 2014 Fourth Annual  Mission Summit on February 8, 2014 (half-day only) The Summit brings together people in our churches to share, connect, and engage with each other on God's mission in our world. We'll have a keynote speaker - a top-notch speaker and Professor from Fuller Theological Seminary, breakout sessions and Exhibits. If you have have a ministry about which you are ardent, or want to connect with others like you, aglow and burning, working on God's mission and sharing the love of Christ, then I encourage you to check our the Summit website. We'd love to receive your submissions in the Exhibits category especially. Save the date and plan to join us. In the meantime, enjoy The Cost from Rend Collective. Yes, I've counted up the cost and Jesus, you are totally worth it.
