Garden Club - November Meeting

"In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life." James 1: 21. Struck by our new pastor's sermon on The Letter of James, chapter 1, and hearing it anew in The Message version he read to us, I'd selected it as our Bible study verse for our Garden Club June meeting. Very appropriate for our venue, for in November, the group met again in Garden of Grace! The verse came alive as I watched my friends sorting and pricing the 66 plant donations we'd received for the IPC Alternative Christmas Bazaar on 21st November.

The Alternative Christmas Bazaar is one of the ways in which our church tries to help bring God's kingdom of peace and justice. At the Bazaar, our congregation and community can purchase and give meaningful “Alternative Gifts” to their family, friends, teachers, coaches, and business associates. The meaningful gifts are diverse but they all have one thing in common: They support our church's mission partners locally and around the world. Gifts include: sponsorship funds for under-privileged or marginalized, oppressed or orphaned children in India, Swaziland, and Mexico; toys for children locally and in Mexico, money for goats and chickens, bunk beds, bricks, and other necessities, to help our mission partners in Africa, China, India and USA.Some of our Garden Club ladies have been tending these plants and putting the dish gardens together, with tender loving care, for sale at the Bazaar. All of the proceeds from the sale of these plants go to Pravaham: A Community for Peace and Justice in rural south India. Thank you, my Garden friends!
